Veolia chosen as distinguished supplier for extension project of Dubai’s sewage treatment plant

Dubai Municipality in UAE has selected Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies as ‘Distinguished Supplier’ for the AED144m ($39.1m) extension project of the Al Aweer Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

The contract awarded to the subsidiary of the environmental resource management firm Veolia is in line with Dubai Municipality’s strategic policy for 2015-2021 and is the first stage of a complete upgrade plan of Al Aweer STP.

The municipality had doled out multiple mega infrastructures projects on the basis of approved Drainage and Irrigation Master Plan.

The projects are aimed at upgrading the operational STPs in the city to better the performance of the entire sewerage system in view of the anticipated sewage increase in the country.

Titled as Project DS 167/1, the mega infrastructure project intends to raise the daily treatment capacity of the Al Aweer STP by nearly 65,000m³.

Extension works at the facility have been in progress since July last year.
