Veolia Water, through its subsidiary Veolia Water Japan, has secured three operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for water and wastewater treatment facilities in Japan.
The three contracts will generate revenue of €49m for the company. Under the terms of the contracts, Veolia Water Japan will provide O&M services for two treatment facilities in Hiroshima and Kyoto.
The company's Japanese unit has been operating both the treatment facilities since 2006 and 2009, respectively.
The unit has now extended the contracts, with a four-year renewal, to provide wastewater services for 649,000 people in parts of Hiroshima and a three-year renewal covering wastewater services for 51,000 people in parts of Kyoto. Veolia Water Japan has also secured a five-year O&M contract for a drinking water project in Matsuyama.
The five-year contract requires the subsidiary to provide O&M services for all facilities used to treat drinking water for 515,000 people in Matsuyama, on the southern island of Shikoku.
Veolia Water Japan is expected to start providing O&M services in the second quarter of this year, 2012.
Recently, Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies subsidiary OTV has been selected by SIAAP to lead a consortium to renovate a wastewater treatment plant in Acheres, France. As part of the €776.7m contract, the consortium will renovate the Seine Aval biological wastewater treatment plant. The renovation involves the rebuilding of a new and efficient biological treatment train and the transformation of the plant's core process, which involves designing an advanced treatment process, especially to deal with nitrogen.
Veolia Water Japan provides its full range of solutions in Japan, ranging from design, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and networks, to the management of customer services for municipal and industrial clients.
