Waxman Industries to unveil water leak protection system

Cleveland-based company Waxman Industries will unveil its smart water leak detection system ‘leakSMART’ during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas later this week.

The system is claimed to stop water leaks automatically by detecting the leak in less than five seconds.

leakSMART detects water leaks, damaged water supply lines, washing machines and other everyday appliances and plumbing fixtures throughout the house.

In case of water leak, the system can immediately shut off a home’s water supply to prevent wastage of water.

Waxman Industries president and CEO Larry Waxman said: "leakSMART makes the smart home something practical for the average homeowner.

"leakSMART has more than a ‘cool gadget factor’; with leakSMART, the everyday homeowner can prevent water leaks in their house, eliminating the possibility of water damage and the thousands of dollars of loss associated with it."

leakSMART Valve features a wireless and motorised brass water ball valve that connects to a home’s main water supply and shuts off water supply if a leak is detected.

The valve features ZigBee wireless technology, which can be controlled remotely with an internet connection.

It also features a wireless water leak sensor that can be placed on the floor near selected appliances and plumbing fixtures throughout the home, which can detect leaks and send a signal if there is leak.

The system is linked to leakSMART App, which continuously monitors the system, including battery levels and sensor data, while the valve can be remotely opened or closed with the smartphone app.
