BluMetric to carry out groundwater monitoring for Vale Canada

Canada-based cleantech company BluMetric Environmental has announced that its Professional Services Division has secured a C$2.5m environmental engineering contract from Vale Canada.

BluMetric will conduct semi-annual monitoring and reporting for around 1,000 groundwater monitoring wells in Sudbury, Shebandowan, and Port Colborne, Ontario. The company will also provide a fully graphical database package to Vale Canada to manage its groundwater and surface water data. In addition, BluMetric will assist Vale with obtaining permits to take water, and with compliance monitoring and reporting required by the permits.

BluMetric professional services division president Nell van Walsum said that the new contract emphasises not only the stability of long-term client relationships but the effectiveness of expanding technology reach and service offerings.

"We have been intent on building our skill-sets in areas that are highlighted by client needs, and this demand-sensitive strategy has been very effective for the professional services division in this instance," Walsum added.

BluMetric Environmental CEO Roger Woeller said that the company has built this business by evolving skill-sets and services in response to client needs.

"This contract demonstrates that this approach remains an essential component of our overall strategy and forms a strong base for our other growth initiatives," Woeller added.

The BluMetric professional services division provides environmental earth sciences and engineering solutions, including contaminated site remediation, water resource management, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety and renewable energy. The BluMetric water division offers design-build and pre-engineered product solutions to industrial or commercial water and wastewater treatment needs.
