California water district selects IDModeling smart water network software

The East Orange County Water District (EOCWD) has chosen IDModeling’s Sedaru hydraulic modelling software to augment productivity by anticipating water operations and solving water resource problems.

Sedaru makes work easier for personnel in the field by facilitating access to key information on a tablet.

Established in 1961 for the purpose of augmenting limited groundwater by providing imported county water, the EOCWD supplies water wholesale to roughly 100,000 people. This is done with the help of smaller agencies, such as Orange, Tustin, the Irvine Ranch Water District and Golden State Water Company. EOCWD also serves an additional 1,200 retail zone residential accounts.

IDModeling district general manager Lisa Ohlund said: "Since our motto is frugal government, we’ve chosen Sedaru software to maximise our technology and help mitigate the cost of water. We only have five full-time employees, so our techs in the field also serve as customer service representatives. We needed to get them customer data while they were in the field, as well as GIS information."

IDModeling superintendent of maintenance and operations Jerry Mendzer said: "Sedaru eliminates paperwork. Operators can get on an iPad to access information to complete tasks. All the information is at their fingertips."
