Desalitech to build new water treatment facility in Israel

Water treatment company Desalitech will design and construct a new municipal water treatment facility for water corporation Mei Raanana in the city of Raanana, Israel.

The project is part of an Israeli Water Authority outreach program for the commercialisation of advanced water technologies in the municipal sector. It is also supported by the national programme for promoting the water and renewable energy industries Israel Newtech.

The new facility is being designed to remove nitrates from a municipal well. The well, which had supplied drinking water for decades, was closed after its nitrate content rose above limits specified in public health regulations.

The Raanana facility will be operated at a water efficiency rate of around 93%, producing around 2,400m³ of quality drinking water a day, which will be supplied for around 18,000 people in the city.

The facility will be provided with a ReFlex water treatment solution powered by CCD technology.

Desalitech CEO Nadav Efraty said that the world needs high-efficiency water and wastewater treatment far more than most realise, and the firm’s products are unrivaled in their ability to meet this challenge.

"However, we could not be saving the water and costs that we are without the partnership and endorsement we have gotten both in the US and in Israel," Efraty added.
