Iran to spend $8bn for water production and consumption management

The National Development Fund of Iran is planning to spend $8bn for water production and consumption management in the country.

Iran’s Majlis Agriculture, Water and National Resources Commission chairman Abbas Rajaei said that 12 projects for water production management are under consideration.

Discussions for water consumption management will involve talks about optimisation of irrigation, volume of demand and promotion of water efficiency.

The funds have been allocated for project implementation and water consumption management, reports Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the official news agency of Iran.

The country is also planning to implement advanced techniques for irrigation.
