Israel partners with Akron city to bring water technology innovations to US market

An Israeli collaboration has partnered with the City of Akron in Ohio, US for an ‘Advanced Waste Water Treatment Demonstration Project,’ which aims to bring Israel water technology and innovation to the US market.

The US city will be the exclusive North American partner in the project which involves participation of institutions, academia, and private enterprises from Israel.

WaTech-Mekorot, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel Export Institute, Memtech and four other Israeli firms are the other parties involved in the project.

It is expected to open up job opportunities and investment scope in the US city through business attraction, besides promoting water innovation initiatives.

Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic said: "We are being entrusted with an exclusive platform and pipeline for Israeli companies to demonstrate innovative technologies and new solutions for water treatment worldwide."

Advanced Memtech CEO Moshe Kelner said: "We chose Akron because of its water industry experience, its successful business activities, its collaborative and cooperative spirit with Israel, and for the establishment of the Akron Global Water Alliance (AGWA) whose purpose is to promote innovation, knowledge sharing, and commercialisation of water technologies."

The partners have formed an agreement on the terms of participation, which will be followed by a formal contract in the future.
