New York water utility uses Innovyze solution for water distribution network management

Water Authority of Western Nassau County in New York, US has selected Innovyze’s H2ONET, which is a CAD-based water distribution modelling software, to support management and operation of its distribution network.

The water utility serves over 28,000 customers, involving a population of around 120,000 in the towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead on Long Island, New York.

Services provided by the authority include extraction, treatment, distribution and sale of water for residential, commercial, industrial and public and private fire water protection purposes.

Water supplied by the utility comes from underground water aquifers.

Innovyze is an US-based business analytics software and technology provider for smart water infrastructure.

Innovyze’s H2ONET solution is expected to help the water utility with critical planning, design, maintenance and operational issues.

The computer-aided design (CAD) based modelling software will help the water authority to optimise its capital improvement program which will be in line with its strategic plan.

Water Authority chief engineer Robert Swartz said: "We use H2ONET for all our water distribution network modelling applications, from master planning to new development and fire flow assessment.

"Its powerful CAD interface, rich functionality, intuitiveness and ease of use greatly assist our model development, calibration and maintenance.

"Its fast simulation speed and comprehensive scenario management allow us to improve our water system’s performance and sustainability at maximum savings."
