Pittsburgh renews water management services deal with Veolia

The Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority (PWSA) Board of Directors in the US has approved a one-year contract extension with Veolia, under which the company will continue to provide water management services until December 2015.

The company has been providing interim executive management services since 2012, to improve its water quality, utility management and stakeholder responsiveness.

The services offered by Veolia North America have helped PWSA to realise revenue and efficiencies worth $5m per year.

Besides improving the operational efficiencies of the wastewater authority in Pittsburgh, Pennysylvania, US, Veolia has also helped PWSA to implement Green Infrastructure (GI).

PWSA board chairman Alex Thomson said: "Our partnership with Veolia has improved the day-to-day operations of the utility, resulting in significant cost efficiencies and improved customer service.

"Veolia has provided stable leadership to PWSA and is helping us develop a plan to prepare the utility for the difficult challenges it faces in the future.

"We appreciate Veolia’s continued assistance to the utility in addressing these challenges."

Veolia North America’s municipal and commercial business president and COO William J. DiCroce said: "Together, Veolia and PWSA have forged an excellent partnership, helping the authority demonstrate leadership, innovation and superior customer service.

"We appreciate the Board’s vote to extend our partnership and are confident that our relationship will continue to provide value and benefits to the authority and its employees, customers and the community."

PWSA offers wastewater, water and sewer management services to more than 300,000 consumers living in the city of Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas.
