Veolia receives wastewater service contracts in France

Global resource manager Veolia has secured new contracts, worth €170m, from inter-municipal wastewater service of the city of Saint-Pierre in Reunion Island, Frontignan and the La Barche in France.

The new contracts follow Veolia’s Water Business’ series of successes in Ajaccio, Le Mans, Romans, Lisieux, Cœur Côte Fleurie, Carcan-Maubuisson, Beaune and Troyes.

Veolia Water France CEO Frédéric Van Heems said: “These new contracts reflect our clients’ trust in our teams. They were also an opportunity to present new innovations and a level of service to match their expectations for performance, responsiveness, governance and digitalisation.”

The contracts, effective from this month, aim to provide efficient services that are environmentally friendly to all water consumers, with focus on customer relations and consumer support.

The new 11-year wastewater public service contract from the municipality of Saint-Pierre includes additional resources for wastewater collection network maintenance and innovative technology for bad odour treatment.

The Saint-Pierre contract focuses on material recovery, which includes 100% conversion of sludge into compost.

In addition, the firm will undertake measures to reduce energy and reagent consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases, with additional plans to improvise 17,000 individual wastewater systems.

Under the 10-year contract with the municipalities of Frontignan, Balaruc-les-Bains and Balaruc-le-Vieux, Veolia will manage drinking water services with an anticipated yield of 85% by the end of the contract.

Veolia’s 12-year wastewater management concession contract with La Barche inter-municipal wastewater service includes the operation of a unit to inject biomethane into the public gas network, with the treatment of the collected effluents at the Hagondange wastewater treatment plant.

Furthermore, the firm will set up a revamped customer service centre around a consulting area.

Digital technology Hypervision 360 will be introduced to assist elected representatives, field operatives and users.

Entire water service data and information, including sensor data, warning systems and repair and work order sheets will be integrated in real-time by Veolia’s operational management.
