Aegion to rehabilitate wastewater pipelines in Baltimore, US

Aegion subsidiary Insituform Technologies has won an approximately $10m contract to install nearly seven miles of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) in wastewater pipelines in Baltimore, Maryland.

Around one mile of the installation will be for medium-diameter trunk sewers, while the rest will be small-diameter pipes.

Work on the project is expected to begin in mid-2014 and will take approximately 16 months to complete.

Insituform east region vice president and general manager Jeff Kowal said that the company’s engineers and crews are well prepared to successfully complete this project with minimum disruption for citizens and businesses.

"We are pleased the City of Baltimore has entrusted us to execute this technically challenging wastewater rehabilitation project, which will require a large bypass system and effective traffic control in the city centre and Inner Harbor areas."

The company has been awarded $56.9m in contracts by the city since September 2012.

Additionally, Aegion’s Australian subsidiary Insituform Pacific was recently awarded a four-year contract by Hunter Water in the Lower Hunter Region centred in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

The contract is valued at $5.8m and replaces the prior five-year contract recently completed by Insituform Australia.
