France to Fund Uzbekistan Water Project

France will provide a loan of $26.6m to Uzbekistan for the reconstruction of water pumping stations in the Navoi region.

Of the loan $15.4m will be allocated to reconstruct the Navoi pumping station, and the remaining $11.2m will be used to reconstruct the Uchkara pumping station.

The loan agreement will be signed in early 2011 and the projects will be implemented between 2011 and 2013.

After completion the projects will supply water to 35,000 hectares of land, according to waterworld.com.
