Banks to Fund Philippines Water Supply Systems

The Development Bank of the Philippines and the Bank of the Philippine Islands is to provide PHP560m ($12.9m) for the rehabilitation of Puerto Princesa’s water supply system.

The project will expand the services of the Puerto Princesa Water District to previously unserved areas of the city, bringing its total connections to 32,776 by 2014.

The loan will be used to rehabilitate Puerto Princesa’s existing water supply system, which serves 23,317 households and establishments in 36 barangays, according to malay.com.ph.

The project also includes the development of new sources of water, combining surface water from the Irawan River and new groundwater wells.
