US State Plans Water Investment

The US state of Pennsylvania is planning to invest $174m in 27 drinking water projects in 21 counties.

Of the total investment, $154m will be through low-interest loans, while $20m will be distributed as grants from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.

Pennsylvania is planning to invest $30m to improve a wastewater treatment facility in Lycoming County, which is expected to reduce nutrient contamination of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Blair County will receive $10m to construct a facility to treat raw manure and milking wastewater from participating farms in the area, reducing nutrient contamination of local streams and the Chesapeake Bay.

Aqua PA received $9.9m to upgrade the Neshaminy Water Treatment Plant, while Allentown received a grant of $8.6m to replace city’s water meters.
