Brazilian State Unveils Sanitation Outlay

The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo is to invest R$1.75bn ($1.03bn) during 2011 in improving its basic sanitation coverage.

R$976m ($567.7m) will be spent on sewerage services and R$777m ($452m) on water supply.

The state will undertake 208 projects aimed at improving sewage collection and treatment, according to bnamericas.com.

The state capital will receive 73 projects, while the remaining projects will be carried out in the cities of Sao Bernardo do Campo, Itaquaquecetuba, Poa, Suzano, Osasco, Carapicuiba, Itapevi, Barueri and Jandira.
