New York to Spend $61.5m on Water Programme

The US state of New York has unveiled a fund of $61.5m to finance more than 40 projects to improve water quality and reduce pollution.

The grant was awarded by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Quality Improvement Program.

Out of the total grant, $20m will be used to restore or improve vital stream habitat and reduce stormwater pollution by implementing green infrastructure and sewer mapping.

The grants will given to projects covering municipal wastewater treatment, storm sewer systems, non-agricultural and non-point source abatement and control, aquatic habitat restoration and water quality management.
