IDB Funds Peru Water Project

Inter-American Development Bank will extend a $25m loan to Peru to support the third stage of a water resources management reform programme.

Under the project, Peru will strengthen measures to improve the efficiency, equity and sustainability of water use by means of integrated, participatory management.

The initiative will consolidate the national water resources policy, the institutional and regulatory framework, the sustainable financing of water resources management and the decentralisation of managerial decisions.

The loan for Water Resources Reform Program III was extended for a 20-year term, with a five-year grace period.
