US County to Reconstruct Wastewater Plant

Pima, a county in the state of Arizona, US, has awarded a contract to Denver-based CH2M Hill Engineers to reconstruct a wastewater plant for $164m.

The contract includes designing and building the wastewater plant, as well as operating the plant for the next 15 years.

The construction, along with upgrades, is part of the county’s $720m plan to bring the plant within regulatory compliance for the amount of nitrogen in treated wastewater.

New state and federal standards for treated wastewater require the 60-year-old plant to be overhauled.
