Barnard Construction Secures US County Water Project

The Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) in California, US, has awarded a $35m contract to Barnard Construction to enlarge the Los Vaqueros dam under the Los Vaqueros Expansion Project.

The $120m project involves raising the dam’s height by 3ft, which will increase the reservoir’s capacity from 100,000 acre-feet to 160,000 acre-feet.

The additional water storage will help ensure high quality water deliveries to customers, reliability during drought and protection for Delta fisheries and the environment.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2011 and be complete by 2012.
