EIBC Funds Cameroon Water Supply System

Export-Import Bank of China (EIBC) will lend $736m to Cameroon to fund the construction of a water supply system in the capital city of Yaounde and nearby villages.

The project includes the construction of a 100km pipeline from Sanaga River to Yaounde and a pumping station.

The project will be carried out by China National Machinery and Equipment Import and Export.

The total cost of the project is around $847.6m, out of which EIBC will provide $736m and the remaining costs will be borne by Cameroon.

The project will start next year and be completed within two years, benefiting about two million people, according to Reuters.
