Nicaragua to Complete Sewage Project Expansion

Enacal, Nicaragua’s national water and sewerage utility, expects to complete its $12m expansion of water and sewage networks in Boaco by May this year.

The project includes the construction of a dam to store 187,000m³ of water from Fonseca River in El Diamante.

It also includes a pumping station to transfer 117l per second of water to a water treatment plant that is near completion.

The wastewater component of the project includes three main collectors, 4.4km of sewerage pipelines and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.

The Spanish Government-funded project will benefit 50% of Boaca residents, treating 4,954m³ per day of wastewater, which will then be released into Fonseca River, according to waterworld.com.
