US State to Invest Millions in Water Projects

South Dakota Board of Water and Natural Resources in the US has approved a grant and loan of $34.4m to be used for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, watershed improvements and solid-waste projects.

The projects include $28.6m of low-interest loans for Sioux Falls to upgrade its water and sewer systems.

The projects will be split into two parts, with $4m to be used to improve drinking water in areas surrounding the city and $24.6m to be used in upgrading wastewater systems.

The project will replace water pipes that were installed in the early 1960s, increasing the capacity of the pipes.

The loan also includes $2.9m for the Canova water lagoon expansion, $4.4m to Faulkton for water-pipe replacement, $6.8m to Gregory for water improvements, $4.7m to South Lincoln Rural Water Systems and a $7m grant to Mount Veron.
