Brazilian State to Invest $34m in Sanitation Project

The Brazilian Government has allocated R$567m ($341m) to Bahia state water utility Embasa to carry out basic sanitation work under phase II of the country’s growth acceleration plan.

Out of the total allocation, the north-eastern state will receive R$489m ($290.7m) to improve sewerage services and R$77.6m ($46m) for water supply projects, according to bnamericas.com.

Approximately R$281m ($167m) of the funding will come from the federal unemployment insurance fund (FGTS) and national development bank BNDES, while R$184m ($109m) will come from the federal budget.
