Sri Lanka Plans $88m Water Supply Project

Sri Lanka is to invest LKR9.7bn ($87.7m) in the Ruhunupura Water Supply Project, which will provide water to the region of Hambantota.

The project is expected to supply 17,500m³ of drinking water daily, benefiting 112,000 people.

The Ruhunupura Water Supply Project will provide water from the Ridiyagama water reservoir to the Mahaweli development zone, the Ruhunu Magampura Mahinda Rajapakse International Harbour and industrial developments in Hambantota.

The project is jointly financed by the governments of Sri Lanka and Korea, and will be implemented by the National Water Supply & Drainage Board of Sri Lanka.
