Chile to Award Chacrillas Reservoir Project

Chile is to award a $60m contract to build the Chacrillas irrigation reservoir to Spanish company OHL.

Eight firms offered bids for the project.

The reservoir will be built on a 92ha area, 16km north of Putaendo in central region V, and will have a capacity to store 27 million cubic metres of water.

The project also includes the construction of a 102m-high, 320m-wide dam wall, according to www.bnamericas.com.

The Chacrillas reservoir will receive water from the Rocin and Putaendo rivers and irrigate 7,100ha of land for fruit growers in the Putaendo valley.
