United Envirotech Secures China Wastewater Contract

United Envirotech has secured a CNY280m ($42m) contract to acquire, upgrade and operate a wastewater treatment plant and a recycling plant in China’s Hebei province.

Under the contract, awarded by Tangshan-Nanpu Economic Development Zone Management Committee, the Singapore-based company will acquire, upgrade and operate a 80,000m³ a day wastewater treatment plant and a 40,000m³ a day wastewater recycling plant.

The contract stipulates that United Environment will form a 50:50 joint venture with Singapore-based Memstar Technology to upgrade the plants to allow them to meet the higher discharge limits imposed by the Chinese Government.

The project is expected to be completed by 31 December 2011.
