Transfield Joint Venture Wins $1.1bn Australian Water Contract

The Government of South Australia has awarded a A$1.1bn ($1.1bn) contract to a joint venture of Transfield and Suez Environment’s subsidiary Degremont to supply water and wastewater services in Adelaide and its surrounding areas.

Under the contract, the joint venture will supply water and wastewater services to 1.1 million residents in and around the fifth-largest city in Australia.

The joint venture will oversee the entire water cycle, which includes operating and maintaining six water treatment plants, six purification plants, the 16,000km water network, as well as recycled water schemes and minor capital works.

The contract will last for ten years and includes an optional six-year extension.

Transfield and Degremont each hold a 50% stake in the joint venture.
