Toray to Supply RO Membranes for Chinese Water Plants

Toray Industries is to supply reverse osmosis (RO) membranes to seawater desalination plants in Qingdao and Caofeidian in China.

The two plants will have a capacity to produce 150,000m³ of water a day and will start its operations this year.

The Qingdao plant, with a water production capacity of 100,000m³ a day, is under construction by Befesa of Spain along with Qingdao City in Jiaozhou Bay.

The 50,000m³-a-day Caofeidian plant is co-funded by Tangshan Caofeidian Infrastructure and Aqualyng China and is being constructed by the Development Centre of Water Treatment Technology, Hangzhou.

The plant will commence operations in 2011 and supply water for the industrial development zone in Caofeidian.
