Hyflux to Build Desalination Plant in Singapore

Singapore’s national water agency PUB has awarded a S$890m ($702m) contract to Hyflux to design, build, own and operate a desalination plant in Tuas, Singapore.

The new reverse osmosis plant is expected to produce 318,500m³ of water per day.

Hyflux will also construct a 411MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant to supply electricity to the desalination plant.

The company is expected to start construction at the plant by Q4 2011 and begin operations by 2013.
