World Bank, US to Deal with Global Water Crises

The World Bank Group will work in collaboration with 17 agencies of the US Government to support the management of global water crises such as the lack of safe drinking water and sanitation, diminishing aquifers, drought, flooding and the effects of climate change in developing countries.

The partnership will help developing countries to improve water security and quality by managing water resources properly, delivering reliable, sustainable access to water of acceptable quantity and quality, and by supporting livelihoods, ecosystems and production to reduce risks from extreme hydrological events such as drought and flooding.

The collaboration will also help in the rehabilitation of degraded watersheds, improve water use, irrigation practices and technologies, and support water, sanitation and hygiene facilities to prevent disease.
