Peru Awards $118m Water Contract to Abengoa Consortium

The Abengoa and Grana y Montero consortium has won a $118m contract to expand and improve the drinking water and sewerage system of the Peruvian province of Callao, as part of the Pachacutec project.

The contract, awarded by Peru’s state-controlled water utility Sedapal, will provide drinking water to 200,000 people.

The Pachacutec project was launched as part of the government’s Water for Everyone programme.

The project is intended to improve the living conditions of inhabitants in under-resourced local villages and improve economic growth.
