Venezuela Reveals Annual Potable Water Investment

The Government of Venezuela has invested an average of $600m per year since 1999 in improving access to potable water and water treatment systems, according to Environment Ministry director Rodolfo Roa.

The investment has increased Venezuela’s potable water access to 96% in 2010 from 81% in 1998.

Currently, 96% of the country’s population has access to drinkable water and three million people have benefited from the creation of the Water Technical Tables.

The government has constructed aqueducts, water treatment plants, restored dams, upgraded existing water systems, and cleaned lakes and rivers, reports venezuelanalysis.com.

Water infrastructure projects include the Winka Aqueduct in Zulia State, the Bolivarian Aqueduct in Falcon State, and the Luisa Caceres Aqueduct in the states of Sucre and Nueva Esparta.
