Nigeria to Complete $100m Water Treatment Plant

Nigeria is to complete the N15.7bn ($100m) Zaria water treatment plant in the state of Kaduna in the next six months; 50% of the project has been completed so far.

The project includes the rehabilitation of water supply, transmission and distribution systems.

The project is being carried out by Mothercat Nigeria, which won the contract in 2008.

The project will have a capacity to treat 150 million litres of water per day and solve the water supply problems in the city of Zaria and the surrounding area.

Nigeria Kaduna State Water Resources commissioner Asandu Garba said that the state government has so far paid about N9.8bn ($62m) for the project.
