KfW to Finance Azerbaijan Water and Sewage Projects

German development bank KfW will provide €125m for rehabilitation of the water and sewage systems of Ganja and Sheki in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At a presentation in Ganja, KfW vice-president Eva Witt said that reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems of the cities would be implemented in three phases.

The first phase of work will include rehabilitation and reconstruction of water distribution systems to restore fully the water supply system of Ganja with an investment of €55m.

The second phase of work includes laying water and sewage lines in Ganja and Sheki with an investment of about €30m, and the third phase will require funding of €40m and includes installation of modern sewage treatment units.

The first phase of the project is expected to begin in April, with the second phase in late June and the third phase at the end of 2011, reports abc.az.
