Peru to Receive IDB-AECID Loan for Water and Sanitation Works

Peru’s housing, construction and sanitation ministry has signed a cooperation agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Spain’s International Cooperation and Development Agency (AECID) to receive funding for the upgrade of its water and sanitation infrastructure.

Under the agreement, $90m will be spent on improving the water and sanitation works in five regions of Peru, reports andina.com.

AECIB will provide $72m, while IDB will issue the remaining $18m for the project.

The project will benefit about 220,000 inhabitants in Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cuzco, Huancavelica and Puno.

The loan comes under the Spanish Government’s cooperation fund for water and sanitation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
