Veolia Wins Supply Contract for Canadian Thermal Project

Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has received a contract from Southern Pacific Resource to provide a water treatment system for its STP-McKay Thermal Project in Northern Alberta, Canada.

Veolia’s AutoFlot induced gas flotation technology will be used to treat the water produced from the thermal project’s oilfield operations.

An HPD evaporation system will treat the deoiled water from the 12,000bpd operation.

The treated water is to be used for drum-type boilers to generate steam for the steam-assisted gravity drainage process.

Veolia will also supply a water treatment facility to treat raw water for additional use in the plant, which will be fed into the produced water treatment system, thereby minimising waste from the process.

Veolia’s technical subsidiaries Whittier Filtration, HPD and Crown Solutions will provide the deoiling technology, evaporation system and source water treatment plant, respectively.
