Aquatech to Build Desalination Plant for Indian Power Plant

Coastal Energen has awarded Aquatech a contract to design, engineer, fabricate and build a 13,000m³ per day seawater reverse osmosis-based desalination plant for its coal-fired thermal power plant in Tamil Nadu, India.

Aquatech will provide a complete water and wastewater solution for the facility, including a high purity water system, electrochlorination and an effluent-treatment plant.

Aquatech will also conduct pilot trials for seawater reverse osmosis pretreatment and provide civil and building work.

Coastal Energen managing director SM Zafrulla said several environmentally friendly measures have been adopted for the 2 x 600MW Mutiara power plant being developed at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu.
