Cesan to Improve Sewerage Services in Brazilian State

Brazilian state utility Cesan will invest R154m ($96.2m) to improve sewerage services in rural areas of the south-eastern Espírito Santo state for 2011.

A Cesan spokesperson said the sewerage works would be carried out in 14 municipalities.

Cesan will invest a total of $5.6m in Nova Venecia with $3.1m allocated for the installation of pipelines and a pumping station and another $2.5m for phase II construction work of a wastewater treatment plant.

The towns of Afonso Cláudio and Pinheiros will receive investments of $3.9m and $2.1m respectively.

Cesan serves 52 municpalities, providing sewerage services to 983,500 people and supplying potable water to 2.2 million people, according to BNamericas.
