Zimbabwe Signs MOU for Zambezi Water Project

The Zimbabwe Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with an unnamed foreign investor to implement the National Matabeleland Zambezi Water Project.

The project will draw water from the Zambezi River through a pipeline running across Matabelelend North to Bulawayo.

Water and Resources Development Minister Sam Sipepa-Nkomo told The Zimbabwean that several investors from countries including Italy, China, India and Israel were interested in financing the project and the ministry had to consider the best option.

The project is expected to start by the end of the year.
