VA Tech To Employ Amiad Filtration Technology for India Plant

Indian Firm VA Tech Wabag has selected Amiad Filtration Systems’ Arkal disc filtration technology for its new seawater desalination plant in Chennai, India.

The project will draw water from the Bay of Bengal and process it using reverse osmosis technology to supply 100 million litres per day of purified water to the city.

The Arkal disc filters, which will help convert seawater to potable water, will be installed by 2011.

Mecon, a government-owned firm, will oversee and coordinate the project’s construction.
