EBRD Signs MoU to Improve Kazakhstan’s Water Infrastructure

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kazakhstan authorities to improve drinking water supply and wastewater management services in three municipalities.

The EBRD will provide $100m to support the preparation of public-private partnership projects in the selected cities.

Kazakhstan’s Agency for Construction, Housing and Utilities, the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies of Kazakhstan and the municipalities of Taraz, Atyrau and Semey will modernise existing facilities and create new water management systems.

Under the terms of the MoU, private investors will also be involved in the implementation of the projects.
