World Bank Grants $80m for Chinese Water Project

The World Bank has approved a loan of $80m for the Bayannaoer Water Comprehensive Environment Management project in China.

The new project will improve water reclamation and distribution facilities to meet the rising water demands of industries with reclaimed water from agricultural drainage and domestic wastewater.

The project will also finance the construction of new wastewater treatment plants and distribution networks for recycled water.

In addition, it will reduce pollution at the Wuliangsuhai freshwater lake in North China.
