Sabesp to Begin Construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant in Brazil

Brazilian water utility Sabesp is planning to begin the construction of the R$112m (US$69.6m) wastewater treatment plant in the Campos do Jordão City of Sãu Paulo State, Brazil, by the end of June.

The utility is awaiting an environmental permit from the state environment authority Cetesb and will construct the new treatment plant on a 480,000m² area, away from downtown.

The plant will use ultra-filtration membranes, allowing the reuse of treated water for activities such as street cleaning and irrigation, reports BNamericas.

The work is expected to be completed in 30 months, and will include cleaning up local streams.
