Kiewit Infrastructure to Renovate US Reservoir

Construction firm Kiewit Infrastructure Group has been selected by Tampa Bay Water to renovate the CW Bill Young Regional reservoir located in Florida, US.

The 15.5 billion gallon reservoir collects water from the Alafia and Hillsborough rivers.

Negotiations for the $162.4m contract are expected to be complete by 1 August this year, $42m of which will be used to increase the reservoir’s capacity by three billion gallons.

Kiewit’s proposal includes reclaiming the reservoir’s existing flat-plate soil cement and soil wedge, the removal of the geomembrane, and the addition of an embankment fill, a drainage system, a new geomembrane and stair-step soil cement in the interior.
