Peru Allocates Funds for Sanitation Projects

Peru has allocated PEN474m ($172m) to fund sanitation projects in the country as part of its Water for Everyone programme.

Peru’s economy and finance ministry awarded PEN441m ($159.8m) to local governments and PEN31.9m ($14.1m) to regional governments.

The local public sanitation service providers also received PEN8.32m ($3m), which was initially allocated to the housing, construction and sanitation ministry.

Public sanitation service providers and the regional and local governments will begin the selection processes for the projects soon, according to bnamericas.com.

The programme aims to reach comprehensive potable water and sewerage service coverage in the Peruvian cities of Lima and Callao.
