Jordan to Reduce Energy Consumption at Wastewater Plant

Jordan’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation has signed an agreement with engineering firm Engicon and Germany-based Huber Technology to carry out a pilot project at the Madaba wastewater treatment plant.

The aim of the project is to reduce the plant’s energy consumption by 40% and improve its environmental conditions, reports The Jordan Times.

The Madaba plant lacks adequate facilities for dewatering sludge, which means that sludge must be transported from Madaba to the Khirbet Al Samra Wastewater Treatment Plant in Amman.

Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Najjar said that the environmental conditions at the Madaba treatment plant will be improved after employing the new system.
