Sembcorp Completes First Phase of Water and Power Plant Project

Sembcorp Salalah Power and Water has completed the first phase of its $1bn Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant project in Oman.

The facility has begun dispatching 61MW of power to the Dhofar power grid in the southern part of the country.

Once completed, the facility will have a gas-fired power plant and a seawater desalination plant, which will use reverse osmosis technology to produce 69,000m³ of water per day.

The plant will begin full commercial operations in the first half of 2012.
