NCB to Refinance Jamaica’s Central Wastewater Treatment Loan

The National Commercial Bank (NCB) has signed a $37m contract with Jamaica’s Ministry of Housing, Environment and Water to refinance a loan for the Central Wastewater Treatment Company.

Horace Chang, Minister of Housing, Environment and Water, said that the investment will bring relief to the National Water Commission (NWC) and tidiness to the government’s financial arrangement.

More than $1bn has been allocated to NWC to improve its operations over the next ten years, with the aim of reducing non-revenue water by 25%, and increasing access to water in rural areas to 70%.

NWC holds majority shares in the Central Wastewater Treatment Company.
