Sabesp to Tender Sewerage Works at Brazilian Project

Brazilian water utility Sabesp is to start tenders worth R$150m ($93.8m) for sewerage works under its reservoir clean-up programme in Brazil.

The scope of work includes the installation of wastewater pumping stations, collector trunks and system pipelines, which will benefit the neighbourhoods of Riacho Grande, Alvarengas, Lavras and surrounding regions of the city of Sao Bernardo do Campo.

The works will direct wastewater from the Billings reservoir to the Ribeirao dos Couros basin, from which it will be sent to the ABC treatment plant in south-east Sao Paulo for treatment.

The programme, along with the Tiete river sanitation project, will improve wastewater treatment coverage in Sao Bernardo do Campo from 27% to 90%, according to bnamericas.com.
